Transporting Voters to the Polls

Can you drive a voter to the polls in Texas?

• YES, it is legal to drive a voter to the polls in Texas, so events like “Souls to the Polls” are legal. 

• You don't have to be related to the voters you are driving to the polls, and there are no limits on how many voters you can drive to the polls. 

2025 Legislative Change

For people who are providing transportation specifically to voters who need to vote curbside due to an illness or disability, when they arrive at the polling place, they will be asked by an election worker if they have provided transportation to 7 or more curbside voters during Early Voting and/or Election Day.

• If the answer is YES, then the driver will need to provide their name, address, and signature on a form stating that fact. 

• On that same form, the driver will also need to indicate whether they only provided transportation to those voters, or whether they also assisted those voters with reading or marking their ballots.

• It is a Class A misdemeanor for a driver to refuse to fill out this form.
