Curbside Voting

Who can Access Curbside Voting? 

Any voter who is physically unable to enter the polling place without the likelihood of needing personal assistance or injuring their health can have a poll worker bring them a ballot at the polling place entrance or in their vehicle. This is called “curbside voting” and is available during Early Voting and on Election Day at every polling location in Texas.

2025 Legislative Change 

All curbside voters will now need to sign a form under penalty of perjury stating that they are unable to physically enter the polling place without the likelihood of needing personal assistance or injuring their health or they are requesting a reasonable accommodation due to disability.

What Does Curbside Voting Look Like at the Polls? 

Each polling location in the state of Texas must have at least one parking spot that is designated for curbside voting. 

Once a voter who needs to use curbside voting notifies the presiding judge at their polling place that they need to vote curbside, an election worker will bring a ballot directly to the voter.

How Do I Notify the Election Workers that I Need to Vote Curbside? 

Each polling location must have clearly visible signage that details how you request your curbside ballot. 

Some counties have a phone number to call or text that lets election workers know that you are at the polling location and you need to vote curbside. Other counties will place a box with a button that alerts the election officials to your arrival when pushed.
